Livelihoods

The Issue

621 million young people aged 15-24 years old are not in education, employment or training.

Youth are 2.7 times more likely to be unemployed than adults.

Global economic recession post COVID-19 will impact every nation, the lower-income nations will be affected more drastically. According to The World Bank, recessions are “expected to reverse years of progress toward development goals and tip tens of millions of people back into extreme poverty.

The Impact

Young workers as twice as likely to be living in extreme poverty than adult workers. In 2020 more than 70 million young people will be pushed into extreme poverty.

Our Programme Approach

Based on the primary issue of youth unemployment, lack of skill development and workplace opportunity in the formal sector, our Livelihood Programme has been designed with young adults in mind.

With the belief that access and opportunity can lead to success, we aim to enhance employment and entrepreneurial opportunity for our beneficiaries, however skill development for formal sector employment is integral to improving the statistics. Through this, we aim to engage our beneficiaries in two ways:

The Sustainable Development Goals

Focusing on UN SDG goals No 1. No Poverty, No 2. No Hunger, and No 10. Reduced Inequalities, we are trying to address the issue by working with communities who have low means of income and provide opportunity for increased livelihood so they can live a life of dignity and success.
